In the Glass Case: Honey Hill Pottery by Ellany Gabel
Ms. Gabel, a resident of Miller Place and Callicoon, NY designed and created the stoneware that is on display this month. Her pieces are strong, usable pottery, painted with natural colors before being fired in a kiln at 220 degrees. Ellany Gabel teaches and gives workshops at Honey Hill Pottery hoping for people to find pleasure by connecting through working with clay. Her fascination and work with clay goes back to Hunter College in 1976, where she studied ancient cultures whose life could be reconstructed by timeless pieces of pottery.
