March 2006 ART EXHIBIT

Exhibition: Paintings by Chris Murphy

Mr. Murphy, well known artist, musician and poet, will display his work this month. The exhibit concentrates on abstract paintings on paper as well as canvas. Having grown up in India, his work reflects the rich colors, textures and culture of that country. Mr. Murphy works in multiple techniques and multiple media, often exploring ideas in series of paintings to clarify ideas, form and color. His incorporation of positive and negative space within the paintings brings a different dimension to his work. Mr. Murphy's work has been displayed widely in the Metropolitan area and is part of several private and public collections. The Friends of the Library invite everyone to a reception for the artist on Sunday, March 5 from 2:30 - 4:00 PM
