MAY 2006 ART EXHIBIT

Exhibition: One Woman's Fascination with the Sahara: A Photographic Exploration of the African Desert by Eva Maria Langensteiner

Ms. Langensteiner lives in Germany and has traveled for many years to the Sahara in her own Land Rover. She finds this seemingly empty landscape of the desert has a particular calming effect on humans in contrast to the busy, stressful world around us. Her pictures include beautiful sand dunes, oases with luscious green, as well as people who live the harsh life of nomad tribes. Ms. Langesteiner's regular trips include supporting a school of the Tuareg people whose lives have changed very much over the last years.

Come and meet Eva M. Langensteiner on Sunday, May 7 at 2:30 when she will speak about her experience traveling alone as a woman to the African desert. She will also talk about her love for this exciting part of the earth and about her involvement with the people of the Sahara. Don't miss this exciting lecture and reception, sponsored by the Friends of the library.
