May 2009 ART EXHIBIT

Exhibition: Paintings by Nancy L. Cintrone
Ms. Cintrone came to this country from El Salvador many years ago. As a student in El Salvador she was very interested in the arts, particularly in drawing and painting. Later in New York she worked as an accountant for New York State and in the private sector to make a living. After retirement she went back to her first love - the arts, exploring watercolors and oils. The exhibition concentrates on portraits and still lifes. Ms. Cintrone has exhibited her work at The East End Arts Council, South Bay Art Association, the Consulate of El Salvador and the Phoenix Fine Art Gallery among others. The Friends of the Library will sponsor a reception for Nancy L. Cintrone on Saturday, May 23, from 2:30 to 4:00 PM.

In the Glass Case

In the Glass Case: Origamic Architecture Pop-up Cards by Brian Lee Inspired by the Metropolitan Museum's holiday pop-up cards, Mr. Lee created white cut outs using form and shadow for a recognizable subject. It is his aim to present pristine and artistic personal cards in a time of e-cards and texting. Brian Lee is also known as a photographer. His impressive pictures of New York City were displayed in the library last November.
