April 2009 ART EXHIBIT

Exhibition: Paintings by Louis F. DeCaro
A long time resident of Wading River, Mr. DeCaro taught English for 30 years at William Floyd High School. The sudden diagnosis of Parkinson's disease forced him to retire early. Facing this challenge, he devoted himself to painting. He was always interested in the arts but never found the time while teaching. With enthusiasm and passion he paints landscapes, flowers and scenes from his travels abroad. He now teaches other people suffering from Parkinson's and other illnesses to paint and enjoys the interaction as well as seeing his students' progress and accomplishments.

In the Glass Case

In the Glass Case: Origamic Architecture Pop-up Cards by Brian Lee Inspired by the Metropolitan Museum's holiday pop-up cards, Mr. Lee created white cut outs using form and shadow for a recognizable subject. It is his aim to present pristine and artistic personal cards in a time of e-cards and texting. Brian Lee is also known as a photographer. His impressive pictures of New York City were displayed in the library last November.
