A theatrical designer by profession Ms. Costa has been working for the past 20 years in the entertainment industry. She created designs for television, film industry as well as concerts and live events. Trained as a painter, she started to experiment with shutter speed, which brought her to the abstract photos exhibited in this show, where light and darkness take on the form of a painting.

In The Glass Case: Prints by Amal
“Hetaliye” (Rice Pudding) is the title of the latest children’s book illustrated by Amal. It is a memoir of Palestinian author Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, where as a poor boy he gives away the dinner of rice pudding his mother had prepared for the family. Amal Karzai is a fine artist and Illustrator. Her brushstrokes bring stories alive with movement, color and fantasy. She worked as a costume designer at the Washington Opera and for the L’Arena in Florence, Italy.
