Watercolors by Matthew Holmes

Mr. Holmes retired to LI after living in California for over 20 years. Interested in art all his life, he devoted more time to his passion after age 60 when he turned to watercolors. Mr. Holmes considers Edgar Whitney his inspiration. “I feel the spontaneity and immediacy gives watercolor its great appeal. One cannot but be moved by its brilliant transparency.” Matt Holmes continues to paint, exhibit and teach. His works are in private collections coast to coast.

In the Glass Case - Felted Doll Sculptures by Patricia Solan

These most exquisite felted dolls are designed and created by a method invented by Pat Solan. Pat, a long time resident of Long Island, has a degree in Fine Arts and Art History. She has worked as a textile designer and as a fabric designer, and was attracted to handmade dolls after visiting the Folk Art Museum in Asheville, NC. Her handmade dolls bring colorful and vivid characters to life. They have been displayed widely and are part of private collections as well as a museum in England.
