BOOK DISCUSSION
Lord of Misrule by Jaimy Gordon
Thursday, August 16, 7:30 PM
Winner of the 2010 National Book Award for fiction, Lord of Misrule
revolves around the ruthless and often violent world of horse racing, following
five characters through a year of the races at a
bottom level West Virginia racetrack in the early 1970s.
When Lord of Misrule, a once-classy, but now battle
scarred race horse arrives at the racetrack for a minor
stakes race, the novel propels us into the lives of the
owners, groomers and trainers who try to eke out a living
off of the beautiful, used up horses.
Please join us as Professor Dan Giancola from Suffolk
Community College moderates this mesmerizing novel.
