Ms. Cunha, a resident of Rocky Point, has designed and created mosaics used
in architectural installations, as part of furniture, and in gardens. During her many travels she was strongly impressed by the ceramics and tiles of Portugal and Spain, and the paintings and textiles of Haiti and Brazil. These influences are visible in her work. After a visit to the Moravian Tile-works in Pennsylvania, Ms. Cunha began to transfer her textile designs into clay. Ms. Cunha earned an MFA at Cranbrook Academy of Arts and taught Ceramic Art at Dowling College. She currently maintains a private studio in Rocky Point. Most of her works are commissioned and are privately owned.
