Belly Dance Jingle Bellies

This belly dance class is great fun with a lot of holiday spirit! A great pick-me up to reduce that holiday shopping stress. Classic belly dance moves will be done to holiday music as well as really making your bellies jingle. Come join us to jingle! Wear comfortable clothing.


Autumn Ikebana Demonstration
Saturday, November 14 2:00 – 3:30 PM
Ikebana seeks to capture the essence of each season with arrangements that incorporate the local flora and foliage of the season. As the summer gives way to autumn, the Japanese cherish the blooming of the chrysanthemums, one of the symbols of Japan along with other autumnal flowers and the burst of colors of the Japanese maple and other foliage. Enjoy the meditative process of watching how these beautiful arrangements are created. Ikebana is an art of relaxation and happiness.


Moreno Fruzzetti's A Day in Tuscany

Moreno Fruzzetti, a native of Pisa, located in the region of Tuscany, Italy, has been capturing the ears and hearts of fans worldwide for over 30 years. His strong tenor voice captivates audiences. You will hear song selections from the 1940's to the present, the Golden Era of Italian music, along with classical music from centuries ago.


Surprising Sicily!

Join us for a look at her archaeological sites, architecture, festivals, arts, and crafts. You’ll be surprised!

Language Learning

Italian for Travelers
Saturdays, November 7, 14, 21 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM
Join us for a series of three classes that will prepare you for a trip to Italy! Topics include basic vocabulary and tips for survival. No previous Italian necessary. This program culminates with the travel program Surprising Sicily! All are welcome.

Spanish Language and Communication
Wednesday evenings, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23, Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27 at 7:00 PM (no class Dec. 30)
Learn Spanish from a native speaker in this multi-level language class. Learn basic Spanish communication skills such as: travel situations, greetings, introductions, and some cultural aspects of the Spanish language. For those with Spanish language skills there will be an emphasis on further developing your oral skills. There will be scheduled opportunities to practice your conversational skills with native Spanish speakers. All skill levels welcome. (8 week session).

Bilingual English and Spanish Night
Wednesday, November 18 at 7:00 PM
English and Spanish language learners come join us for an evening of conversation activities to practice your new language skills in a fun and safe environment. Call to register. Open to all adults over the age of 18 years.

Friendly English Conversation

ESL Classes

This is a multi-level class for new speakers of English who are high beginner through intermediate levels. Improve your listening, speaking, reading, writing, and understanding skills. Class is limited to 20 people.

NSPL is happy to announce our second online 24/7 language learning program, Pronunciator. User-friendly and geared for the casual learner, it covers 80 different languages with an ESL component to learn English from 50 native languages. Click on this wonderful new product in the left hand menu bar of our homepage. Log in with your library barcode, select a language, and start learning!

Adult Learner.

This collection is available for adults who need materials in two major areas: Basic Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages. Basic Literacy provides tools for adult learners to read and write English while English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) assists those who are learning to speak English. Books, Audiocassettes, CD's, VHS, DVD and computer software are available. Information and study guides for test preparation for U. S. Citizenship is included in the collection.

Inglés sin Barreras

Inglés sin Barreras utilizes video, audio, and a variety of print components to stimulate all the senses that a learner employs in the language acquisition process. The course is divided into themes that come from real-life situations -shopping, visiting the doctor, looking for a job. The course focuses on the needs of Hispanics, with words, phrases, and idiomatic expressions from everyday life.
