November 2017 ART EXHIBIT

Exhibit by Howard Stevens

Realistic photographic images become abstract works of art when Howard Stevens playfully explores them in Photoshop. He once said, "I have no idea what will happen when I begin the process. I twist, turn, and manipulate the image until I'm happy with the effect." His resulting design bears no resemblance to the original photo. It takes on a completely different life. Movement within each piece is created through imaginative use of color, line, and form. There is no message to be seen or read into this body of work. It is simply an enjoyable way of seeing reality differently.
Longtime resident of Long Island, Howard Stevens is a retired professor of Suffolk County Community College where he established the TV/Radio/Film department 50 years ago. He has been enjoying photography even longer. This exhibit displays a wide variety of different styles Howard has developed in this unusual approach to photographic expression.

The Friends of the Library will host a reception for Mr. Stevens on Sunday, November 5, 2:30 - 4:00 PM. All are welcome!
