OCTOBER 2006 ART EXHIBIT

Exhibition: Photography by Charles Kohn

Photography is the great love of Charles Kohn, a graduate of Pratt Institute. Mr. Kohn has worked in many fields of the art world: as a designer of high fidelity equipment and test equipment for Redstone Arsenal Missile as well as designing Logos and commercial products for many years. Locally Mr. Kohn is known as the founder and owner of "Designs in Silver" in Port Jefferson where he worked as a gold and silver smith for 23 years. After retiring, Mr. Kohn found his first love again - photography. He now spends his time between Roquebrune in France and Long Island, photographing people, landscapes and villages. The Friends of the Library sponsor a reception for Charles Kohn on Sunday, October 15 from 2:30 - 4:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to meet with Mr. Kohn at the library.

In the Glass Case: Woodcarvings by Jerry Ludwig

Woodcarvings by Jerry Ludwig will be on display for the month of October. Mr. Ludwig, now retired, started woodcarving 49 years ago while working as an Industrial Arts teacher in Uniondale High School. After he retired from teaching Mr. Ludwig developed wood carving kits to be assembled by children and adults. His kits were used across the continental US, Alaska and Canada in schools, camps and other institutions. At this time Jerry Ludwig works on his carvings just for enjoyment and for his friends. On display will be carvings of sports figures, dancers, Indian memorabilia and more. Everyone can meet Mr. Ludwig on Sunday, October 15, from 2:30 - 4:00 PM.
