October 2012 ART EXHIBIT

Paintings by Arlene Heil

Ms. Heil, a longtime resident of Shoreham, is concentrating on her passion of art after retiring as a registered nurse. A very diversified artist, she works with oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels using brilliant colors. Ms. Heil's paintings convey a sense of beauty in light and color with various subjects that include landscapes, portraits and floral designs. Her work was shown in the Christopher Art Gallery in Stony Brook and the Phoenix Gallery in Bellport, and is part of several private collections.

In the Glass Case
Sculptures by Sue Orifici

As a graduate of The Cooper Union Fine Arts Department, Ms. Orifici worked as a painter and sculptor, exhibiting in various galleries and institutions. The inspiration for her latest sculptural designs for home and garden is nature with its contrary relationship to concrete. Using and combining organic forms, including casting directly from leaves and other organic materials, she achieves a frozen moment in time. Her latest works are a natural development, combining sculptural and painting aesthetics. While some pieces are meant for interior display, others are ruggedly constructed to exist in harmony with the environment outside.
