North Shore Public Library Wireless Network

The North Shore Public Library now offers wireless service to our patrons! To access the network, just open a web browser, and you will be redirected to a login page. You need to have your library barcode handy. Upon succesful login, you will be redirected to the web page you requested. If you have any questions, email the technician at: nspltech@suffolk.lib.ny.us

Specifications for the NSPL Network:

1) Your laptop needs to be DHCP enabled. Most computers are set up this way, but if you have a specific IP address, you should write it down before enabling DHCP. If you don’t know what DHCP is, ask the computer technician to set it up for you

2) You need to disable pop-up blocking for the following site:
This is an internal login server that uses pop-up to verify your library card. If your pop-up blocker blocks this site, you will not be able to log in to the network. If you have Windows XP, with Service Pack 2, then you have a pop up blocker enabled by default.
To shut it off(Easier but less secure):
A. Open an IE window
B. Click Tools
C. Select Pop-up blocker
D. Select Turn Off Pop-up Blocker
To allow an exception for
(Best way to configure)

A. Open an IE window
B. Click Tools
C. Select Pop-up blocker
D. Select popup blocker settings
E. Add in address of web site to allow

If you have another type of pop-up blocker, make sure you allow pop ups from
3) You should have a ssl-enabled web browser. Most browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla) allow SSL connections.

4) An up-to-date Library Card!

Printing can only be done from information saved to a USB stick/CD or emailed to an account and then accessed on our in-house computers.
