Debra Freeman presents another Black Food Folkways Lecture. The history of American barbecue begins with the founding of the country, and the original pitmasters that were enslaved were critical to the popularity and spread of barbecue across the United States. During the talk, Freeman will explore the origins of American barbecue and the legacy of Black pitmasters throughout the centuries, and how their contributions show up on our plates today.

East End Library Program: Tick-Borne Disease – What You Need to Know, Adults **Virtual**

Thursday, June 15, 12:00 – 1:00 PM      

Chances are that you, or someone you know, has been diagnosed with Lyme or another tick-borne disease.  Jerry Simons, PA-C, a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center, will speak about the types of diseases that are carried by the different species of ticks found on Eastern Long Island, and the symptoms, diagnostic tests, and treatment options that are available. Tips on preventing tick bites will also be shared.  

This is a Health Lecture presented in Collaboration with Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital and hosted by Cutchogue – New Suffolk Library.

This lecture has a wide variety of birds and the songbirds are some of the most beautiful to see and to hear. Using photos and recordings, Dianne Taggart (long time LI birder of over 35 years) will tell us all about the Songbirds of LI. A zoom link will be emailed to all participants the day of the event.

In this lecture/demonstration class, you will learn all about “Cloud” storage. What is cloud storage, where is the cloud located, who uses the cloud and much more. Learn all about the settings on your device. In this class, we will discuss settings for certain devices apps, display options, protecting your device with privacy settings, which settings can impact battery life, and much more. Bring your device and your questions. Prerequisites: Introduction to the iPad and iPhone or equivalent/comfort with your device. *Please bring Apple ID and Password.


AARP Smart Driver Course, Adults
