Savvy Sightseer Armchair Travel Series

Missing North Shore Public Library’s Savvy Sightseer Travel Series? Savvy Sightseer, Jeanne Schnupp, is offering virtual classes for all to enjoy! Please look below to travel with Jeanne and also to view an upcoming list of adventures! These classes are great for families, teens, and adults!

Savvy Sightseer Armchair Travel: Scotland with Talk of Outlander

The popular Outlander series is in its fifth season; this program highlights the best of Scottish sights while at the same time visiting scenes that helped make the books and TV series such a hit! We’ll stop in at Edinburgh, Glasgow, Isle of Skye, Stirling, Glencoe, Inverness, and of course Culloden Moor.

Savvy Sightseer Armchair Travel:  Paris and Northwest France

We’ll visit the fabulous Palace of Versailles’ little-known enclave of Marie Antoinette – her secluded hamlet. Then we’ll head northwest to Normandy and the historic American Cemetery with its moving tributes to our soldiers. We’ll also journey to an island cathedral with an unusual second purpose before sweeping into the lavish Loire valley for its splendid chateaux and Leonardo da Vinci’s surprising stash.

Savvy Sightseer Armchair Travel: Switzerland

We’ll start in the northern part of the country in Zurich before moving southwest, and on to the French border. We’ll work our way east through Alpine regions. Along the way, we’ll also visit Bern, Geneva, Zermatt (the Matterhorn), Lucerne, St. Moritz, Montreux and Gstaad.

Savvy Sightseer Armchair Travel: Northern Italy

Savvy Sightseer Jeanne Schnupp leads us on a tour of Northern Italy starting in Milan, the capital of Italy’s Lombardy region; then journey to Verona, the home of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. Next we’ll check out the Northern Lakes and cap our tour in the Cinque Terre – dubbed the Italian Riviera.
