How Does It Work???
WHO CAN SIGN UP:
Children with a North Shore Public Library card can begin this challenge the summer before they start Kindergarten. The goal is to finish all 500 books the summer before Sixth Grade!
GETTING STARTED:
Register online by clicking the link below. Once registered, visit the Children’s Department inside the Library and pick up your tracking log and special lanyard!

READ FOR PRIZES:
Pick up your lanyard when you register for this challenge.
- Earn a brag tag to add to your lanyard every 50 books you read.

When you hit the halfway mark (250 books), pick out a Brag Tag, a book, and a special prize from our prize box.

Kids who complete the challenge and read 500 books will be able to pick out a book to add to their own collection, a Brag Stick, and a special prize from our prize box.
DID YOU KNOW:
Reading just 2 books a week equals 104 books a year? That gives you plenty of time to complete the challenge!

Keep on reading! Join this ongoing reading incentive for children in Grades K-5. 500 Books Before Middle School picks up where 1000 Books Before Kindergarten leaves off. Registration opens as soon as children begin Kindergarten or before they begin sixth grade.

Children are encouraged to read (or have read to them) any book, earning prizes along the way! The goal is to read 500 books before entering Middle School.
