Below you will find all Children’s programs through October, including their registration dates and other information!

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – Child’s name and age/grade MUST be entered in the note field in order to confirm registration. Each library card only reserves one child per program.

  • Children Entering Kindergarten and up attend programs independently unless otherwise noted.
  • Children in Grades Kindergarten and up must be registered using their own North Shore Public Library card.
  • Late Arrival Guidelines: A grace period of 10 minutes will be given to patrons attending a program. Admittance after this arrival time is at the discretion of the library staff.

Let’s Get Ready for Pre-K!, pre-school children ages 3 and 4 years with a parent or caregiver

Monday-Wednesday, August 18, 19, & 20, 10:15-11:00 AM

This program, which will meet on three consecutive days, is for pre-school children ages 3 and 4 years with a parent or caregiver. Each session will explore a different concept and will include a story and craft.


Let’s Get Ready for Kindergarten! Entering Kindergarten

Monday, August 18, 11:15 AM-12:00 PM

Children entering kindergarten will have fun preparing for the big day in this program designed to teach skills that will help them rock Kindergarten.


Story Crafters, Entering Grades 1-3

Monday, August 18, 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM: Stained Glass Butterflies

Enjoy stories and a related craft activity at each session.


Watercolor Rainbow Spray Paint Clouds, Entering Grades 3-5

Tuesday, August 19, 1:15-2:00 PM

Using spray bottles and paint, we will make our own hanging rainbow clouds! Dress for a mess.


Totally Two’s Storytimes – Ages 2 years with a parent/caregiver

Enjoy this themed storytime where families will hear stories, sing songs, and create a simple craft.


Family Slime Time, Ages 3 years – Entering Grade 5 with a parent/caregiver

Roll up your sleeves and visit our Slime Lab! Have fun mixing and experimenting to make the best slime ever!


Read and Play, Birth – 15 months with a parent/caregiver

Families will sing songs, read stories, and then have fun playing with friends!


Hooked on Crochet Drop In, Entering Grades 3-5

Monday, August 25, 6:00-7:00 PM

No registration required. Visit us in the Children’s Room to practice your crocheting skills with friends and ask for tips from Miss Rachel. We’ll provide materials, or bring your own. Please have a basic knowledge of crocheting as this will be a self-guided drop-in program.

Pajama Jam with Shake ‘n’ Make Music, Birth – 35 months with a parent/caregiver

Tuesday, August 26, 6:00-6:45 PM

Wear your pajamas and get ready to party with Heather from Shake ‘N Make Music! A high-energy, fun filled music and movement program incorporating instruments, bean bags, bubbles and more for little ones and their caregivers.


School Supply Bingo, Entering Grades K-5

Join us for our first ever outdoor movie in the courtyard! Bring chairs, blankets, or something cozy to sit on and join us for a showing of Monsters, Inc. We will provide snacks!

Game On Long Island brings an exciting 32-foot mobile video game theater to the library with gaming stations so multiple players can play at the same time!


Pumpkin Painting, Ages 3 years – Grade 5 with a parent/caregiver

Sunday, October 19, 1:15-2:00 PM

Each child must be registered individually. “Pick” a pumpkin and use paint to create a unique design. We’ll supply the pumpkins and paint. Dress for a mess! This program will take place outside, weather permitting.


Spooky Gingerbread House, Ages 3 years – Grade 5 with a parent/caregiver

Thursday, October 23, 5:00-5:45 PM or 6:00-6:45 PM

One gingerbread house per family. Work together as a family to make a Halloween-themed gingerbread house! Houses are preassembled and ready to decorate with Halloween treats!


Monster Scavenger Hunt, All Ages up to Grade 5

Can you find all the monsters hiding in the Children’s Room? Visit the library to see if you can spot them all. Earn a special spooky prize!
