Storytime

Virtual Storytime To Go!

Children will enjoy weekly themed Storytime crafts paired with our online resources to create an interactive Virtual Storytime. Weekly Craft Kits will be available beginning Monday, October 5 and run for eleven consecutive weeks! Make an appointment to visit the library each week to pick up your Virtual Storytime Craft Kit. KidLit TV is a winner of the Parents’ Choice Gold Award, the Norton Juster Award for Devotion to Literacy, and one of the American Library Association’s Great Websites For Kids. KLTV is available in over 700,000 schools worldwide via their website and video distribution partners. They are a diverse group of parents, educators, librarians, kid lit creators, and award-winning filmmakers working together to create fun new ways to reinforce an appreciation of reading that children will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

 

The Children’s Museum of the East End: Baby & Me at Home, Tuesdays, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM, will be a weekly Zoom meeting, parents and caregivers of newborns will meet for a virtual “play date,” hear the latest news about early childhood parenting, discuss developmental milestones, and sing to their babies and offer support to one another (while remaining safe and sound at home).

Kids can kick-start their morning with Transit Tots on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:15 AM! Join Museum educators for songs and stories for our youngest transit fans. Recommended for ages 2-5.

Many Celebrities are reading children’s books, but one specific organization is working with celebrities to help feed children who may be going hungry due to coronavirus-related closures. Jennifer Garner and Amy Adams partnered with the organizations Save the Children and No Kid Hungry. #Savewithstories features many celebrities reading their favorite children’s books and sharing them on Instagram and other social media. These stories are completely free and the (optional) donation goes to a great cause. Approximately 87% of the organization’s expenditures went to program services.

The Library of Congress is offering resources to the public, some of which include Captain Underpants Writer/Illustrator Dav Pilkey hosting virtual drawing classes, readings, and more!

WizardingWorld.com is hosting Harry Potter at Home, a hub of information and activities for parents, children and carers to discover the magic of Harry Potter, by reading or listening on their own or together with loved ones, whilst staying at home. Explore the hub for a wealth of creative and craft activities, quizzes, puzzles and more.

Now imagine Astronauts on the Space Station reading stories to and conducting science experiments for the children of Earth as the world rotates below. Imagine no more…it’s Story Time from Space!
