Art By Graham Marshall - Cattle BarnArt Exhibit – Light Remembers

Graham Marshall is a painter and sculptor living in Shoreham Village on Long Island, New York. After a full career as an industrial designer working in both Canada and the United States, he now enjoys a new life focusing on pure artistic expression. He explores a variety of subjects, creating vivid visual experiences that are a blend of mood and perception. Through painting landscapes and architecture, he interprets nuances of moving light and color and how they can spark unique imagery.

Flower QuiltArt Exhibit – Brighten Your Summer with Color: Modern Quilts

Local modern quilters are back to spark our imagination with a new selection of colorful quilts.   These quilters push the boundaries of quilting by experimenting with color, design, and stitches.  This exhibit includes pieces by Lynn Fullshire, Roberta Leonard, Mario Mulea, Barbara Ryan, Louise Smit & Randi Vogt.

  • In the Glass Display Case: Members of the Long Island Modern Quilt Guild participated in a President’s Challenge, creating Kwandi Quilts.

Tai Chi Flo, Adults

You may register for only 1 series option…please see below class options!

Nonrefundable fee of $15 (cash/check) paid in-person. Tai Chi Flow is a combination of Tai Chi and Qigong. Tai Chi is smooth flowing movements called forms that are inspired by animals and nature. Qigong is the practice of stimulating the flow of energy internally throughout the body with breath and movement.  Tai Chi and Qigong is a harmonious form of gentle exercise that is beneficial for flexibility and balance.

The services offered by the Town Clerk touch upon the most joyous, intimate, and somber times in the lives of our residents with the issuance of Birth, Marriage, and Death Certificates. Other offered services are wide ranging from assisting with parking permits for Persons with Disabilities, to helping with amusement and special event permits. No passes or certificates will be issued at this event because of privacy laws, but we will assist you in getting the process started.

Do you know someone who can no longer eat meat?  Allergist Erin McGintee, MD of ENT and Allergy Associates, and a member of the Medical Advisory Panel of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Regional Tick-Borne Disease Resource Center, will lecture about the Alpha-gal meat allergy which is caused by a bite from the Lone Star Tick.

Picassiette Mosaics, Adults

Picassiette mosaic is a form of mosaic art that involves creating designs by reassembling broken pottery, china, tiles, or other ceramic fragments. In this workshop, you will transform beautiful china into art by breaking it into pieces and learning the techniques to create a mosaic using the fragmented materials. You may choose to make a heart or dove. Young Adults over the age of 16 may register for this program.

Savvy Sightseer Travel to New Zealand, Adults

Two main islands, referred to as North and South, along with about 600 small islands make up New Zealand. The North and South islands are drastically different in geography and culture. The South Island is cool and rugged, dotted with fjords and the Southern Alps. Learn about the outdoor experiences that draw bungee jumpers and mountain climbers to the region. North Island, known by the indigenous Māori as Te Ika-a-Māui, has mild temperatures, high-daytime temps averaging 80℉ in winter. Learn about the Māori experience, explore Hobbiton (the Shire in the The Lord of the Rings movies), and visit the beloved Hamilton gardens.

Learn how to enjoy the outdoors with the use of aromatherapy and essential oils. We will create a beautiful bug repellent that also lifts the spirits and a moisturizing body scrub to keep the skin clean and healthy during the summer months. Beginner’s Quilt Class, Adults

Friday, July 18, 10:30 – 3:00 PM

Nonrefundable fee of $30 (cash/check) paid in-person. Learn to create a quilt in a snap!  Enjoy stitching without stress and create your own heirloom quilt in this class. To start we will review sewing machine basics review and setting up fabric for the quilt top. The next steps are stitching the seams for the quilt sections, combining sections of the quilt, quilting the quilt top, and adding the binding to finish your quilt.

SBHS Health Speakers Series: Osteoporosis, Adults **Virtual**  

Thursday, August 21, 12:00 – 1:00 PM

Osteoporosis is a disease that weakens bones, making them thinner and less dense.  This can result in bone fractures which significantly impact quality of life.  Dr. Heidi Roppelt, board-certified rheumatologist at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, will discuss osteoporosis and osteopenia, the causes, as well as diagnosis, treatment and disease management.   This disease is more prevalent in women, although men can also be affected.
