A native Long Islander, Marie Camenares studied art at CW Post, and has a degree in horticulture from Farmingdale University. In addition to creating soft watercolors, she also has a passion for the vibrant colors of pastels. The landscape is a beautiful and inspirational pallet and a source of ever-changing lighting, textures, colors and subject matter to choose from for her paintings.
Marie is a member of the Wet Paint Studio Group and has shown many paintings at various venues on Long Island, including The Bellport Community Center, where she won 1st place for her pastel “Vintage Still Life”, and an honorable mention for her watercolor, “Welcome Fall”. She’s had a one woman show at Martha Clara Vineyard, (now known as RGNY), displays at the Port Jefferson Village Center, a one woman show at Bayard Cutting Arboretum, and a one woman show at the Sachem library, as well as installations at libraries throughout Suffolk County.
The content of Marie’s paintings captures and reflect the deep appreciation she has for living on Long Island with its innate beauty and exquisite natural settings. She wants to soak her paintbrush, or her pastel palette, with the beauty of Long Island and share it with the viewer.
