Below you will find all Children’s programs through April, including their registration dates and other information!



Winter Reading Club: Reading is SNOW Much Fun! 

Tuesday, January 2 – Friday, February 23

Join our special winter reading club! Earn Snow Bucks, one for each hour read. Spend your Snow Bucks at the NSPL Store to buy your choice of prizes. 


February Programs

Registration is required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. Registration for February programs begins Thursday, February 1 at 9:30 AM. Child’s age/grade MUST be entered in the note field in order to confirm registration. Each child must be registered using their own library card. Each library card only reserves one spot per program.

Online registration is recommended. Program space is limited and classes fill quickly.


February In Person/In Library Programs 

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED – Child’s name and age/grade MUST be entered in the note field in order to confirm registration. Each library card only reserves one child per program.

  • Children Entering Kindergarten and up attend programs independently unless otherwise noted.
  • Late Arrival Guidelines: A grace period of 10 minutes will be given to patrons attending a program. Admittance after this arrival time is at the discretion of the library staff.

Let’s Make Tres Leches Cake in a Jar!, Grades K-5 with a parent/caregiver

Thursday, February 22, 7:00-8:00 PM

Learn how to make tres leches syrup, then add it to a pre-made vanilla cake in a jar and top with fresh strawberries and cream.


All Aboard the Circus Train, Ages 18-35 months with a parent/caregiver

Let’s ride the circus train in this fun movement and music program presented by A Time for Kids.


Family LEGO Day, Ages 3 years – Grade 5 with a parent/caregiver

Sensory Storytime, Pre-K, Ages 3-5 years with a parent/caregiver

Stories, movement, music, and sensory play make this a unique and highly interactive storytime.


Sensory Play, Newborn – pre-walkers with a parent/caregiver

Infants will enjoy manipulating toys that are designed specifically to encourage sensory exploration.

Leprechaun Scavenger Hunt!

Visit the Children’s Room between March 10th and 17th to search for the hidden St. Patrick’s Day symbols! Earn a special prize once you’ve found them all.

Learn through play in this hands-on program! Adults and children will get moving with different ways to explore and learn through multiple manipulative stations, stories, songs, and a craft.

Children and caregivers will enjoy singing along with these familiar rhymes as we act them out using puppets and props.


St. Patty’s Day Painting, Grades K-5

Pick your favorite St. Patrick’s Day themed plaster and get painting! Dress for a mess.

Visit our “Construction Zone” and build whatever you can imagine with tons of different bricks and blocks!

Register and pick up a copy of Mr. Wolf’s Class: Lucky Stars by Aron Nels Steinke in the Children’s Room to join in on this fun monthly book club. Kids will read the book, then attend the program for a booktalk, games, prizes, and snacks!


Toddler Time, Ages 12-35 months with a parent/caregiver

Tuesdays, March 19 & 26, 10:15-11:30 AM

Register for this 2-week session! Toddlers will enjoy interacting with other toddlers in a setting designed to encourage free play and exploration. Children and adults will enjoy music, crafts, toys, and a circle time.

Come join A Time for Kids in this fun and fast-paced preschool readiness program. Children and adults will work side by side through music, movement, fine and gross motor activities, as well as a storytime. End the class by making a fun craft!

National Library Week Book-A-Day Raffle, April 7-13, 2024

We will sponsor a Book-a-Day raffle in recognition of National Library Week.  Enter the adult, young adult, or children’s raffle each time you visit the library. There will be three raffle winners each day (one from each age category).
