Below you will find all Children’s programs through February, including their registration dates and other information!


Late Arrival Guidelines: A grace period of 10 minutes will be given to patrons attending a program. Admittance after this arrival time is at the discretion of the library staff.


January Programs

Registration is required for all programs, unless otherwise noted. Registration for January programs begins Tuesday, January 3 at 9:30 AM. Child’s age/grade MUST be entered in the note field in order to confirm registration. Each child must be registered using their own library card. Each library card only reserves one spot per program.

Online registration is recommended. Program space is limited and classes fill quickly.


Winter Reading Club For Children

Join our special winter reading club! Earn Yeti Bucks, one for each hour read. Spend your Yeti Bucks at the NSPL Shop to buy your choice of prizes. Registration begins Tuesday, January 3, 2023!

To kick off our Winter Reading Club, a stuffed yeti will be hiding in a new place in the Children’s Department each day! Find him when you visit for a chance to win a prize. One entry per child, per day.

LEGO Club, Grades K-5

Join Miss Danielle for this hands-on storytime science program! Kids will learn science through read-alouds, tinkering, and exploration.


Lunar New Year Celebration, Grades K-2

Monday, January 30, 4:45-5:30 PM

Celebrate the year of the Water Rabbit! As we recognize Chinese inventions that influenced the history of maritime travel, find out about the beautiful traditions and good luck symbols of the Lunar New Year. Design a paper lantern and dragon to use in your celebrations.


Tots Night Out: Snowman Fun, Ages 18 months – Pre-K, 3 & 4 years with a parent/caregiver

Tuesday, January 31, 6:00-7:00 PM

Come join A Time for Kids in this fun and fast-paced preschool readiness program. Children will learn through music, movement, fine and gross motor activities, as well as a storytime. Everyone will make a silly snowman craft!



February Programs

Sensory Play, Birth – pre-walkers with a parent/caregiver

Infants will enjoy manipulating toys that are designed specifically to encourage sensory exploration.


Kidnastics, Ages 18 months – Pre-K, 3 & 4 years with a parent/caregiver

Kidnastics will be here to lead children with caregivers in a fun exercise program with activities designed to develop fine and gross motor skills.

Families will work together to make 4 heart-shaped pretzels filled with chocolate chips. Bring pretzels home to bake and enjoy!


Heart Art Painting, Grades K-2

Thursday, February 9, 4:45-5:30 PM

Kids will use different techniques to make a beautiful heart painting, ready to be displayed.


Giant Game Day, Family, Ages 3 years-Grade 5 with a parent/caregiver

Sunday, February 12, 1:00-2:30 PM

Drop in for an afternoon of super-sized family fun as we play GIANT versions of classic games in the library. Enjoy freshly spun cotton candy, and spin our giant wheel for a chance to win a prize!

Join us back in the Storytime Room! Enjoy sweet Valentine stories, flannel boards, and a fun craft. Children will attend this Storytime independently.


Pop Art Donuts, Grades K-2

Create a Pop Art themed fabric donut inspired by the Pop Artist, Claes Oldenburg. Paint, dip and “glaze” your donuts, and then add your own sprinkles!


Cookies & Bookies, Grades 3-5

Register and pick up a copy of “Skunk and Badger” by Amy Timberlake in the Children’s Room to join this fun monthly book club. Kids will read the book, then attend the program for a booktalk, games, prizes and snacks!

Prepare to be amazed by Nick the Balloonatic and his balloon sculpting! Learn the history of balloons and see how they impact our lives, then watch as he sculpts with amazing speed. Every child goes home with a balloon!

iPads To Take Home

Call or visit the library to borrow a Children’s iPad loaded with age-appropriate and educational games! iPads come pre-loaded, without internet access and can be borrowed for 14 days. Call the Children’s Department for more information or to put an iPad on hold at 631-929-4488.
