In Library Programs
- Late Arrival Guidelines: A grace period of 10 minutes will be given to patrons attending a program. Admittance after this arrival time is at the discretion of the library staff.

Battle of the Books 2025 (Teens entering grades 6-9 in Fall 2025)
- Tuesdays, June 10 – July 29, 7:00 – 8:30 PM
- Optional Practice: Thursday, July 31, 3:00 – 4:30 PM
- Final Battle: Friday, August 1, 5:00 – 9:00 PM
Battle of the Books is back this year! Join us as we read six books this summer and prepare for a giant trivia game against other libraries in Suffolk County! Check out our YA Instagram on Thursday, 5/1, when we announce the six titles. Registration begins 5/1, the first book will be available to pick up on this date. This program is for teens entering grades 6-9 in Fall 2025.

Community Service – Patriotic Totes for Vets, Grades 6-12
Monday, May 12, 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Earn one hour of community service and create patriotic totes to donate to veterans at the Warrior Ranch Foundation.
Community Service – TAG Meeting, Grades 6-12
Saturday, May 17, 10:00 – 11:00 AM
Earn one hour of community service and help us create some decorations to hang in the YA Room this summer.
Rustic Parmesan Bread with Herbs, Grades 6-12
Saturday, May 17, 12:00 – 1:00 PM
Join Chef Rob Scott as we make a rustic bread dough to take home and bake.
Draw a Dragon with Art Teacher Amy, Grades 6-12
Wednesday, May 28, 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Learn about Asian and European dragons as we draw a dragon step by step and color them in with markers or colored pencils!
Community Service – Hooked-on-Crochet, Grades 6-12
Thursday, May 29 & Monday, June 9, 5:30 – 7:00 PM
Earn 1.5 hours of community service and help run a crochet program with the Children’s Department. To volunteer, you must know how to crochet the single stitch. In-person or phone registration is required.

June Programs
Frankenstories, Grades 6-12
Saturday, June 7, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
During this creative writing exercise, we will write responses to prompts and vote for our favorite submissions until we stitch together a “Frankenstory” written by the group! Please be sure to bring a phone, tablet or laptop with internet access; we will be writing the story online.
Fiber Art, Grades 6-12
Tuesday, June 10, 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Create a unique and textural piece of art using color and weaving with fiber! Please dress for a mess.
Red, White & Blue Confetti Cookies, Grades 6-12
Monday, June 30, 6:30 – 7:30 PM
Join Chef Rob Scott and make confetti cookie batter to take home, bake, and fill with your favorite ice cream.

Long Island Aquarium Educators have designed age-appropriate learning resources and activities for grades K-12. The lesson plans focus on the animals found at Long Island Aquarium and highlight their taxonomy and adaptations.
