LONG RANGE PLAN OF SERVICE
- Mission
The mission of the North Shore Public Library (“Library”) shall be to provide access to diverse information and lifelong learning resources.
- Service Responses
The primary service responses of the Library shall be as follows: to offer print, non-print and electronic reference resources that cover a broad variety of topics; to provide public space for meeting and gathering that is recognized as inviting, neutral, and safe by all individuals and groups; to offer dramatic, musical, dance, and other programs that reflect the cultural heritage of populations in the Library’s service area; to provide and maintain a collection of circulating materials on a wide variety of topics in which the general public has a sustained interest; to make available access to digitized resources created by the Library via its web site, including text, graphics, video, and sound in digital format.
- Special Meeting
The Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to hear all interested parties and citizens regarding a final building program for the construction, reconstruction, and/or renovation of library facilities.
- Amendments
This resolution may be amended at any regular business meeting of the Board of Trustees by a two-thirds vote of the entire membership, provided the amendment has been submitted in writing at the previous regular business meeting.
